Joseph Lee "Joe" Blackmon, age 57 of Warrior, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2024. Visitation will be at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home Saturday, February 3, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. The funeral service will be Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will precede the funeral service from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Church of Christ Cemetery in Corner, Alabama.

Joe was preceded in death by his precious and loving wife, Kay Blackmon; father, Terry Blackmon, Sr.; grandparents, Doris Fikes, Jerry and Lillian Blackmon. He is survived by his children, Mandy (Peyton) Hartzell, Justin (Chelsea) Blackmon, Brittney (Matt) McMinn, Grandchildren, William Sorenson, Emilynn Sorenson, Conrad McMinn, Colt Blackmon, Kyleigh Hartzell; mother, Shiela Blackmon; grandfather, G.C. Fikes; brothers, Terry Wayne (Janie) Blackmon, Jr., Mike Blackmon; sister, Susan Blackmon, beloved nieces and nephews.

Joe Blackmon. There are so many things to say about Joe Blackmon. The first thing that he would want for everyone to know about him would be that he was a Christian. He loved the Lord and served Him faithfully. He was also a husband to his best friend, who he has now been reunited with. He loved her with his whole heart, and the two took care of each other. He was a loving father. he often verbalized how much he loved his kids.He looked for opportunities to pull them to the side, to speak of his love and willingness to sacrifice to ensure they were going to be taken care of. Not only did he speak those words, he demonstrated fully and carried out all of his promises. His newest title, he was a Pop. Those grand-babies, he loved them more than words can say and even at their young ages, they knew it. Their worlds were their Pop and his was theirs. He had so many titles: son, brother, friend, and more. He prided himself in those relationships and loved everyone. He was kind, humble, loving, and most knew him as goofy (one of his greatest traits). It is hard to speak of him in past tense but it is only here, because he is with the Lord now. He is happy and waiting on the others to come, so that he can hug them tight and tell them, "I told you it was great here!"
