Julie Lemley
Cato
Jul 14, 1969 — Dec 25, 2022
Cleveland
Julie Lemley Cato, age 53, of Cleveland, AL passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2022.
Today our hearts are broken as we all mourn the loss of our beloved older sister, Julie Lemley Cato. Her big heart and bright light will always be remembered as we always carry her love with us (if you were one of the lucky ones she loved).
Many people did not really know Julie, as she did not let many people in her circle, so I will tell you a little about her.. Julie lived her life just the way she wanted to, and always did. She spoke her mind no matter who was around. She would stand up for you if you were in the right, but let you know if you were in the wrong. She would let you know if you had gained too much weight, or when you didn't look so good, she didn't mind letting you know. Julie was also very smart, she could pass any test without studying. She was a very talented artist, and could draw anything she looked at. She loved to read, her favorite authors were Stephen King and John Gresham. Her most favorite thing EVER, though, was spending time with her grandbabies and to do whatever they told her to do. Julie loved her family, sisters and boys, but the love she had for those grandbabies was a love Julie never had for anyone else in her life. In her eyes, they were the world.. and in those babies' eyes she was perfect. So, for us to know that Julie finally had a love like no other and a happy, full heart from those grandbabies, may be one of God's ways of making it a little easier for us to say goodbye.
Julie was preceded in death by her grandparents, John Reuben & Bertie Bell Fuller, and William Edward & Pernie Dean Lemley; parents, William Lee Lemley & Bobbie Jewel Fuller; as well as many aunts and uncles from both the Fuller side and the Lemley side.
She is survived by her children, Chad Lawrence (Cassandra), Joseph Whitlow and Jacob Whitlow; grandchildren, Anna Marie and Maverick Thomas Lawrence; siblings, Betty Christine Thornton, Windy Bradford (Joey), and Vanessa Mullaney (Sean); nieces and nephews, Courtney amd Jared Thornton, Zachary, Derrick and Hannah Bradford, Mason and Tyler Mullaney; step-mother, Virginia Lemley; along with many aunts and uncles from both the Fuller side and Lemley Side.
A memorial service for Julie will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home on Friday, January 6, beginning at 6:00 p.m. If you choose to send flowers to the family, please send a potted plant or vase that will be easy for the family to transport home after the service since there will not be a grave to place traditional floral stands on.
