Obituary

Kay Bryant Knight, age 81, of Kimberly, Alabama, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026.

Kay was born in Kennedy, Alabama, on October 15, 1944, to Fred and Ruth Bryant.

Kay will be remembered for her unconditional love for her family. She had a gift for filling a room with laughter and joy. Family gatherings were among her favorite occasions, and she loved being surrounded by loved ones while sharing food, stories, and laughter. Every Christmas, Kay would jokingly announce, "This may be my last one," a tradition that became a beloved family joke. Those gatherings were always filled with laughter, happy tears, and cherished memories.

Kay loved Southern Gospel music and was a member of a quartet. She had a beautiful singing voice and used it to share her faith and bring joy to others. She loved the Lord with all her heart and genuinely loved people.

Professionally, Kay attended cosmetology school, but her greatest joy was working with children. She treasured the many young lives she touched through her work with Jefferson County after-school programs and local daycare centers. Kay loved every child she had the privilege of caring for, and her kindness and nurturing spirit left a lasting impression on countless families.

Kay is survived by her sister, Jean (Larry) Long; her brothers, Rev. Freddy (Linda) Bryant and Rev. Johnny (Darleen) Bryant; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews and her special friend/pal Daniel Campbell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, R.J. Knight; parents, Fred and Ruth Bryant; and her great-nephew, Reese Rutledge.

Kay's legacy of faith, love, laughter, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 25, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Love's Crossing Church of God in Trafford, AL. Kay will be laid to rest at Oakwood Memorial Gardens in Gardendale.
