Lathal Lavon Sloan went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at age 79. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Evelyn Sloan; two sons, Darrell Sloan (Susan) and Gerald Sloan (Connie); seven grandchildren, Nathaniel Sloan (Heather), Reed Massengill (Taylor), Nicholas Sloan (Katie), Nelson Sloan (Rebekah), Johnny Spence, Noble Sloan, and Jared Sloan; three great-grandsons, Levi Massengill, Isaiah Sloan, and Luke Massengill; one brother, Basil Sloan; one sister, Lacy Eaves; and numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends. Lathal was preceded in death by two children, Kayla Fulmer and Nathan Sloan and his parents, Lavon F. & Earnie Sloan. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from ACIPCO after 37 years of service. Lathal loved his family and most of all loved Jesus and is celebrating today with Him and all those who have gone before him. Visitation will be Friday, October 30, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Saturday, October 31, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home, with burial to follow at New Bethel Cemetery.
