On the evening of June 13, 2021, Lessie (Verline) Holcombe, age 84, went to be with our Lord and Savior. Verline is preceded in death by her first husband, Percy Creel, and her late husband, Grady Commles Holcombe; her parents, Levonzie and Ovella Wright; and her brother-in-law, Johnny Rock. She is survived by her sons, George (Sara), Larry (Peggy) and Grady Commles Holcombe Jr.; daughter, Joyce Harvella-McNutt; grandchildren, Jake, Nick (Rebecca), Brianna and Levonzie Holcombe; great-grandchildren, Bentley, Maci and Melani Ingle; sister, Gail Rock; brothers, Donald (Dot) and Larry (Carolyn) Wright; nephews, William (Karen) and Tim (Wendy) Wright, Ricky (Kathy), Micky (Rhonda) and Keith Rock; great-nephews and nieces, Stephanie (Brandon) and Parker Jones, Adam (Karen) Sophia, Gunnar and Ally Wright, Amanda (Brad), Ava-Grace and Maddie Standridge, Hunter Wright, Josh and Jared Horton and Jonathan (Dakota), Hayden and Lilly Rock; secondary family, Laura Hughes and Mary Hughes; and special friends, Jane Mayfield, Bonnie Murray and Jo Boshell. Verline loved cooking, being with her family, playing gospel music and gardening. A visitation for Mrs. Holcombe will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 15, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held the following day, Wednesday, June 16, beginning at 11:00 a.m., also at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home. Bro. Gary Creel to officiate. Interment will follow at New Bethel Cemetery.
