It is with great sadness that the family of Lillian Jowers Sorenson announce that she passed away peacefully at home surrounded by those who loved her on May 11. 2023, at the age of 68. Lillian was a loving wife to her husband of 36 years, Eric Sorenson; a caring mother to her 3 daughters, Lori Galbreath, Angela Hazelrig (Justin), and Amanda Burdette; the most wonderful "Nanny" to her 7 grandchildren, Samantha Tims, Donovan Tims, Christopher Burdette (Rae), Julia Holderfield, Kaleb Galbreath, Lucas Galbreath and Elisabeth Seale and her one great grandchild, Elijah Tims-Taylor. She will also be missed by her large group of friends and extended "family". She was one of a kind. She never met a stranger and always left a place with a new friend or adopted family member. Her doors were never closed to the ones that she loved. She was involved in her community and very passionate about the town of Pinson, AL where she lived most of her life, taking part in several crusades to preserve the history and environmental integrity of the area. She took pride in knowing her family history and spent many hours pouring over genealogy at the library or traveling to some obscure graveyard to take pictures of family headstones. Her family would love for you to join them for her service at Messmer-Goodwin Funeral Home 225 Dana Road, Warrior, AL on Tuesday, May 16th at 12:30 p.m. The service will start at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery, 9417 Thermal Road, Warrior, AL.
