Obituary

Lisa Renee Green, age 59, of Birmingham, Alabama passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024.

Lisa was always thinking of everyone else and putting the needs of others before her own. Especially her grandkids, who were truly her life. Lisa had a hard life, but she perserved and made the most of every situation, no matter what came her way. When her boys, Joel, Michael and Justin came into her life, she always did what felt in her mind and heart was best for them and would give them the best life. As a mother, that's what she wanted most for her boys. She loved them with all her heart, and it filled her heart with joy that she was able to spend her last days close to them. Lisa loved talking about the old days and going to Aunt Gaynell's house. She said you could tell Aunt Gaynell anything and trust that when you left your secrets with her, that was right where they would stay. When Lisa got sick, she hated that she couldn't make those trips to visit anymore, because she wanted to still do for herself. Her son Joel, or "Papoose" as she called him, was her caretaker when she became ill, and he did a great job caring for his mother. Joel being her firstborn, they always shared a close bond. Lisa also had a special friend, Tanya Page, who she grew up with and became very close to. Tanya and Lisa were always there for each other, but Lisa's top priority was always her grandbabies. Nothing compared to their time together, and she always looked forward to Christmas, because she knew she would be spending it with her babies. Lisa loved the Lord, and would tell you that He was keeping her here on Earth for a while until it was her time to go. When her time did come, she knew she was going home, and that her duties here on this Earth had been fulfilled. Lisa was dearly loved by so many, and will be greatly missed.

Lisa was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Edgar Green, Sr. and Shirley Green; siblings, Stanley "Slick" Green, Charles "Charlie" Edgar Green, Jr., James Green and Kim Alvis; and her nephew, Jesse Hodges. She is survived by her sons, Joel "Poose"Kenneth Mays, Michael Earl Mays, and Justin Lee Mays; grandchildren, Michael Earl Mays, Jr., Shamyia Renee Mays, Londyn Rene Mays, Britton Reagan Mays, Bailey Jade Mays, Mikari Colt Mays, and Kingsley Victoria Mays; sister, Wendy Hodges; cousin, Debra "Deb" Green; as well as a bunch of nieces, nephews, other extended family and many friends.
