Loyd Reed Honeycutt passed to his eternal home July 8, 2021. He was born March 21, 1953 to Lloyd and Mamie Honeycutt. He loved playing his guitar and made music with a group called "The Chosen" for a number of years. He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren in the front yard Dogwood tree. Loyd was a people lover and liked playfully teasing people to make them smile. He loved spending time at the lake, fishing and boating, even if he didn't bring home a big catch. His family will fondly remember him repairing everything with screws, whether or not they were needed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Mamie Honeycutt; first wife, Amanda Cato Honeycutt; mother-in-law, Celestine Cato; brothers, Bud, Demp, and Jerry Honeycutt: sister, Margaret (Windham) Underwood; brother-in-law, James Cato; mother-in-law, Agnes Allred. He is survived by his wife, Lois Honeycutt; sons, Dustin (Genie) and Andrew Honeycutt; daughter, Renea Heflin (Jesse); Nathan (Terasa) Roberts; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Natalie, Linley, Olivia Honeycutt; Levi Heflin, Tristain and Dale Roberts, Chad Yarbrough; sisters, Bernice Sizemore, Linda Spruill; brothers, George "Sock" (Linda) and Terry Honeycutt; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A visitation service will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home, Tuesday, July 13, 2021, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Ronald Stone will officiate. Interment will be at Sulphur Springs Cemetery, Empire, Alabama. Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home has been entrusted with the services.
