Mrs. Lorraine M. Bubier Goodwin, age 81, of Hanceville, Alabama, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 24, 2021. Mrs. Goodwin was born on December 2, 1939, in Greene, Androscoggin County, Maine. She is the daughter of the late Leroy Bubier and Arlene Nadeau of Greene, Maine. Mrs. Goodwin is preceded in death by her beloved husband of thirty-nine years, Mr. Paul S. Goodwin Sr. of Hayden, Alabama; and siblings, Robert Tarr, Alpine Watson, Melvin Knight, Janet Diamond, and Erwin Tarr. She is survived by three siblings, Dwinald Bubier, Ellen Morrell, and Shirley Tibeault. Mrs. Goodwin is the mother of six loving children: Darlene Goodwin, Paula Stover, Dawn Madden, Janet Dyer, Paul Goodwin Jr. (Teresa), and Robin Cates (Robbie). Mrs. Goodwin is the grandmother of twelve affectionate grandchildren: Robert Matthew Harrison (Jodie), Robyn Farmer (Michael), Lacey Tzir-Ixim (Juan), Chad Meadows (RB Chanco), Natalie Jones (Josh), Patrice Speegle (Charles), Karessa Goodwin, Oscar Goodwin, Nicholas Stover, Alicia Cates, and Luke Cates. Finally, she leaves behind five adoring great-grandchildren, Zoie Harrison, Robert Matthew Harrison "Junior," Emma Tzir-Ixim, Greyson Tzir-Ixim, and Cooper Farmer. Mrs. Goodwin lived in the Mountain View/ Mountain High community for forty-five years. She is a devoted Christian and a humble servant of the Lord, until her passing in Hanceville, Alabama. Mrs. Goodwin is a member of Mountain View Baptist Church of Hayden, Alabama, where she attended for several decades. In 1974, Mrs. Goodwin received a nursing degree from Wallace State Community College of Hanceville, Alabama. She took her newly gained knowledge and skills to Jefferson County, where she began her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse, at the age of thirty-two years old. During her nursing career, she worked at Gardendale Nursing Home and Carraway Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. After retiring from the medical field, Mrs. Goodwin moved to Hanceville, Alabama in 2005. Mrs. Goodwin remained in the Hanceville community until she passed peacefully, at Hanceville Nursing and Rehab Center on Saturday, April 24, 2021. Mrs. Lorraine Goodwin will be deeply and dearly missed by her loving family, friends, church congregation, and the community. Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home in Warrior, Alabama, will be presiding over the visitation and service. The visitation will be held at Mt. View Baptist Church on Wednesday, April 28, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., with funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Cluster Springs Cemetery in Gardendale, Alabama.
