Marion Louise
Mcdaniel
Jun 9, 1949 — Dec 10, 2025
Marion Louise McDaniel of Cullman, Ala. passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at the age of 76.
Marion was a kind and creative soul whose greatest joy was loving her children. She leaves behind a legacy of love, artistry, and generosity that touched everyone who loved her. Blessed with extraordinary talent, she could paint anything and also draw anything using just a pencil. A very gifted artist in every sense of the word. She filled her home and the homes of others with beauty through her painting, sketches, and her masterful skill as a seamstress, too. Whether creating clothing, designing interiors, curtains and floral arrangements or upcycling forgotten items into something new, she approached every project with imagination and heart. Her love of nature blossomed in her garden, as she was a true master gardener. Each flower bed and pathway reflected her care, patience, and eye for beauty. She could often be found reading, dreaming up new creative projects, or finding ways to, make her home warm and welcoming. Above all else, her greatest accomplishment was being a mother.
Marion was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Franklin and Wilma Edna Doss; and siblings, Randy Doss, Carolyn Stancil, Jerry Doss, and Paulette Doss. Her great-grandchild, Ariyah Crawford. She is survived by her children, Jodie Bates (Jerry), Farrell Startley, and Rebecca Underwood (Justin); grandchildren, Farrah Bates, Laine Startley, Emily Capoccia (Alex) and Logan Startley (Kelsie); great-grandchildren, Sophia Capoccia, Adalynn Rose Startley and Kimberlayah May Davis; and siblings, Nita Acton, Brenda Hadley, and Charles Doss.
A memorial service celebrating Marion's life will be held at Living Word Ministry - 5704 Willow Dr. Gardendale, AL 35071 on Saturday, December 20, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the commencement of the memorial service. Lunch will be served promptly at 12:00 p.m.
