Mary Lou Ogles, a lifelong resident of Warrior, Alabama, passed away peacefully at the age of 79. Born on December 20, 1945, to Lois Lovell Motte and Paul Earl Motte, she lived a life filled with love, devotion, and a deep connection to her family and community.
Mary was a proud graduate of Corner High School and married the love of her life, Jack Ambus Ogles, in 1964. Together, they built a life filled with joy and laughter, raising three sons—Jack Duane (Katy), Paul Eric (Adrienne), and Gregory Lynn (Angie)—of whom she was fiercely proud, and loved deeply.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Eunice Motte Pugh. She is survived by her loving husband, Jack; her sister, Lila Motte Barber; her three sons; and six cherished grandchildren: Amy, Garrett (Chelsea), Clark (Holly), Matthew (Julia), Chandler, and Emily.

In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Mary delighted in her hobbies and passions. She loved tending to her garden, collecting flowers, and hunting for treasures at flea markets and antique shops. One of her favorite places to visit was the Smoky Mountains, especially Pigeon Forge, where she cherished the quiet beauty of nature. Mary's heart was full of pride for her sons and her family, and her happiest moments were spent caring for them. She was particularly delighted by the musical talents of her grandson, Chandler, as he played the piano, and by the sweet melodies of her husband, Jack, singing and playing guitar—especially her favorite, "The Girl on the Billboard."
Mary will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her warmth, kindness, and love will leave a lasting imprint on the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to experience it.

Services will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home in Warrior, AL on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10 am, with the Funeral Service beginning at 11 am. Burial will follow immediately afterward, at Mt Zion graveyard.
