Mattie Lou McLeroy Pierce, age 85, passed away on December 30, 2022.

Mattie was born to William Henry and Clytie McLeroy on September 17, 1937.  She lived her entire life in the Corner area.

Mattie retired from Carraway Methodist Hospital and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.  She will be missed greatly by her family and friends.

Mattie is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Pierce Jr.; parents, William Henry and Clytie McLeroy; brothers, Thomas McLeory, Elmer McLeroy, Pelbert McLeory, Doyle McLeory and John William McLeroy; sisters, Amy Lee Jackson, Katie Bee Motte and Doris Willodean Hughes, Laura Lovell Campbell and Ora Lee Armstrong.

Mattie is survived by her sister Martha Vernell Gilbert, as well as nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 2, 2023 from 12:30 to 1:00pm with a funeral service to follow at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home.  Interment will be at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.  Dr. Sammy Reid to officiate.
