Michael (Mike) Elton Culwell, age 67, entered into his eternal rest November 21, 2021. He was a native of Hayden, Alabama, and lived there his entire life. For the last 30 years he worked as a truck driver for Trans Load and White Oak Trucking. For thirty-seven years he was a friend of Dr. Bob and Bill W. that he met at the Blountsville Freedom and Hope. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Elton and Betty Culwell. Mike is survived by his wife of thirty years, Kathy Smothers; son, James Michael Culwell of Clanton; grandchildren, Grabriel and Abigail Culwell of Pelham, Angel Sargent of Alaska; sister, Susan Culwell (Fred) Delenne of Hayden. He leaves a host of family and friends to grieve his passing. A visitation will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home chapel Tuesday, November 23,  12:00-1:00 p.m. A funeral service will begin immediately following the visitation. Interment will be at Hayden Cemetery. Pall bearers will be: Rick Lindsey, Kelly Comeaux, Randy Johnson, Mike Pridgen, Joe Lewis, and Brandon Barnwell. Pastor Denny Armstrong will officiate. The family would like to thank the staff of Brookwood Hospital and Hope Hospice for their compassion and loving care during this time.
