Michael "Big
Wood" Ray Tomlin
Feb 7, 1975 — Feb 21, 2022
Hayden
Michael "Big Wood" Ray Tomlin, age 47, of Hayden, Alabama, passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022. Michael was a devoted husband and loving father. His smile could brighten up the darkest night. He loved, protected and provided for his family with everything he had, and we wanted for nothing. He was someone who you could count on no matter what the ask. You always knew that as long as he was in your corner, it would all be okay. His proudest accomplishment was living long enough to see the beginnings of the great men his sons were becoming. They are his legacy. He enjoyed raising and tending cattle. He loved to be outside working with his hands. He was so naturally talented that he excelled at everything that he tried. His stubbornness was his best and worst attribute. He will be forever loved, cherished and missed. Rest in Peace, Pumpkin. Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eugene and Dovie Tomlin, and Raymond and Lillian Oldham. He is survived by his loving wife, Samantha Tomlin; sons, Mason and Michael Ethan Tomlin; parents, Terry and Nadine Stack; sisters, Tiffany (Dale) Hall and Leslie (David) Rose; sister-in-law, Rebekah (Robert) Wilbourn; brothers by choice, Tom (Anita) Ploppert and Josh Brown; brothers-in-law, Casey Taylor and Eddie (Aubrey) Taylor; nieces, Leah Ott and Eleanor Wilbourn; and nephews, Nathan Ott, Sammy Rose, Luke Muir and Elijah Wilbourn. A visitation for Michael will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home on Saturday, February 26, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., with a memorial service beginning at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that attendees please bring a token to commemorate their relationship with Michael, whatever item best represents the bond shared. These items will be placed in a box by the urn during visitation, and will go home with the family at the end of the memorial service, as reminders of all the love and good memories that were shared with Michael. If you do not have a tangible item you want to contribute to Michael's memorial, there will be blank cards available for you to write your favorite memory with him, or condolences to his family, to place in a memory box during visitation.
