Naomi Cecilia Mitchell, lovingly known as Meemaw / Aunt Omi, entered into her eternal rest peacefully on May 11, 2024. She was a resident of Morris AL. Born on August 29, 1947, Naomi was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She selflessly gave of herself to others, always putting their needs before her own. Her love for her family knew no bounds, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Kenneth and Alice, one sister (Josephine) her husband Billy Joe, her daughter Naomi and two brothers, Kenneth and Willie Wharton (Mary Ann). She is survived by three brothers, Tom (Barbara), John (Mary) and Jim Wharton (Lee) and one sister, Sylvia (John).

Naomi had a passion for reading and enjoyed watching inspirational shows about faith and family. She enjoyed home-cooked meals, honey buns, and coffee. As an avid Elvis fan, she also appreciated old time gospel music. Naomi found joy in watching Alabama Football.

Married to the love of her life, Billy Joe Mitchell, Naomi was deeply proud of their family. She raised her two children, Naomi Page and Billy Mitchell (Julie), with love and care. Her grandchildren, David Cato (Codie), Jessica Cato, Chris Page (Brittany), Hannah Greene (Tanner), and Brandon Armstrong (Hannah), brought her immense joy and were a constant source of pride for her. She also adored her great-grandchildren, Alexander, Madison, Canaan, Naomi-Gayle and Amelia.

She loved all her nieces and nephews, as well, like they were her very own children.

Naomi's proudest accomplishments included her long-lasting marriage, her role as a nurturing mother, and her joy in being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be remembered for her selflessness, kind heartedness, and unwavering love for those around her.

Naomi Mitchell's legacy will live on through the memories shared by her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Visitation will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home Wed. May 15, 2024, from 11:30 - 12:30 with funeral service to start at 12:30. Burial at Turkey Creek Missionary Baptist Church to follow.
