Obituary

Nicholas Cole Downs, age 35, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023. Nick was a one of a kind person, who would do anything to help anybody. He could do anything he put his mind to, and if he didn't know how to do it he would surely figure it out. Like all of us Downs, Nick was a stubborn one. However, when he loved, he loved so hard. He was one of the most loyal people you could have around, and if you were lucky enough to be in his circle, you were special! Nick's proudest accomplishment in life was his two girls, Lily and Alice. He loved to brag on them and show off all of their accomplishments. He was so very proud of his girls! He always said if he didn't do anything right in life, he did do that right. Without a doubt, he loved those two girls more than anything in this world. Nick's favorite hobbies were spending time with his family (especially his kids and Lauren), gardening and landscaping, and playing guitar. He had been playing guitar since he was a teenager, and even shared that same love of playing with his daughters. We have so many beautiful memories of Nick and his girls playing loudly on guitars and drums, and singing on microphones. That passion for music will live on with his girls, and those memories will play on repeat in their hearts forever. Our lives are forever changed without him here with us, but we will continue to move forward like he would want us to. We are so lucky to have his girls to share his love with, and to help navigate through the future while carrying his memories along with us. Always on our minds, forever in our hearts, and so greatly missed until we meet again.
Nick was preceded in death by his father, Ronnie Carlton Downs.
He is survived by his wife, Lauren Whitney; daughters, Elizabeth Alice and Lily Downs; mother, Virginia Downs; sisters, Angelia (Ginger) Downs, Crystal (Jimmy) Tidmore, Julie (Colt) McCormick, and Sandy Downs; brother, Ronnie (Tiffanie) Downs; nephews, Dustin (Jamie) Oates and Brent Roberson; niece, Gina Roberson; and great-nieces, Adalynn Oates and Charlee Rutledge.
