Grady Norman Mayfield, age 91, of Warrior, Ala. entered this world on September 6, 1933, and departed from it on April 22, 2025.

Norman was a loving husband, father and Papa, and a true pillar of his family. Those who gave him the title of "Papa" held the key to his heart, and he loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren unconditionally and wholeheartedly. After his time at Cane Creek Baptist Church, Norman became a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he remained for over 40 years and also served as a deacon for as long as his health permitted. He proudly served the Lord, his family, and also his country. Norman was a veteran of the United States Army in the 1950's, and received an Army of Occupation Medal during his time served in Germany. He loved farming and gardening, being outdoors and soaking up the sunshine. Norman will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Norman is survived by his beloved wife, Doris Hays Mayfield; sons, Jerome (Donna) and Gary Mayfield; granddaughters, Krystal (Jared) Conner and Wendy (Matt) Armstrong; great-grandchildren: Anna, Heidi and Thatcher Armstrong and Jack, Jesse and Joy Conner; his sister, Shirley Eubanks; and his brothers, Carl and Steve Mayfield.

Pallbearers: Chris Sloan, Matt Armstrong, Jared Conner, Larry Martin, Dewayne Martin, Reggie Hays, Bennie Mayfield & Thatcher Armstrong

Officiants: Bro. Sammie Reid, Jacob Elliott, and Burks Crane.

An evening visitation and viewing will be held in the chapel of Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home on Sunday, April 27, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for guests, and 5:30 to 6:00 for family only. The funeral service will also be held in the chapel on the following day, Monday, April 28, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Immediately following the funeral service, everyone will travel of their own accord to New Bethel Cemetery on Warrior Jasper Road, and reconvene graveside for the enactment of military funeral honors and a brief committal service just before interment.
