Thelma Ozelle McClellan York Holland of Graysville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the age of 97.

Born Thelma Ozelle McClellan on April 17, 1928, to parents Wallace and Luna McClellan in Cullman, Alabama, Ozelle went on to become a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and beloved member of her community who will be remembered fondly for her warmth, sharp sense of humor, and deep, unconditional love for her family. For many years, Ozelle enjoyed playing golf. She also found great joy in quilting, and was a proud member of the Happy Hearts Quilt Guild in Decatur, Alabama, where she formed lasting friendships and was able to share her beautiful work with others. Her legacy of love, creativity and resilience lives on through her family and the many quilts created by her loving hands. Ozelle touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Ozelle was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace McClellan and Luna Laney McClellan; her two husbands, Robert C. York (married from 1944 until his passing in 1985) and Blake Holland (married from 1992 until his passing in 2023); and her brother, Mitchell McClellan.

She is survived by her children, Barbara Payne, Jim York (Janice Tate), Susan York (Darryl Warren), and Joyce Whittaker (Robert); step-children, Victoria Holland and Stephen Holland (Mary), Janice Sheppell, and Rhonda Kobylarz; grandchildren: Courtney Payne, Robert, Adam, and John York, Caitlin,  Laney, and Robert Whittaker, Jr.; seven great-grandchildren; her brother, Newman McClellan; as well as many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved and adored just as they loved her.

The funeral service will be held graveside in Corinth West Cemetery on Saturday, May 3, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow immediately after.
