Pat Baughan passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022. She was preceded in death by husband, Joe William Baughan; parents, Robert Winston McLendon and Laura Jean Green McLendon. Her surviving immediate family include: son, Allan (Tabitha) Dunson; daughter, Rayne Wright; brother, Marty (Kathy) McLendon; nephew, Luke (Suzanne) McLendon; grandchildren, Lauren Baughan, Kaleb Dunson, Bryleigh Ray, Charlie Dunson, Breanna Dunson, Lane Wright, Allie Dunson; great grandchildren, Sipsey Case; Jase Kang. Pat Baughan attended and graduated from Albertville High School in 1972. Pat was an accelerated student and allowed to attend college while in high school. She attended and graduated from Jacksonville State University in 1975. Pat earned a BS degree in Secondary Education with a major in Sociology and a minor in English. Later she completed a MS degree in School Counseling from Jacksonville State University and graduated in 1978. She completed a School Administration degree from Samford University in 1998. Pat worked for the Coosa Valley Juvenile Detention Center in Anniston, AL while in graduate school. She worked for the United Cerebral Palsy Center, Gadsden Affiliate, as the Program Coordinator/Special Education teacher for four years. She was employed at the Center for Human Development, at Jacksonville State University as the student placement experiential coordinator for students in sociology, social work, and related fields. Then Pat was employed by KinderCare Learning for Centers for four years as a Center Director. After three years as a stay at home mom, Pat returned to work with Jefferson County Schools. During that time, she was employed as a Special Education Teacher, Special Education Supervisor, Operational Assistant Principal, and Curriculum and Instruction Assistant Principal. She was retired from Jefferson County Schools after twenty-five years of service. Pat was a member of Smoke Rise United Methodist Church, Hayden, AL.  A graveside service will be held at Hays Cemetery, Hayden, AL, Thursday, May 5, 2022, beginning at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Special Olympics of Alabama (880 So. Court St., Montgomery, AL 36104).
