Obituary

Donald Ray Henderson, of Hayden, Ala. went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 9, 2025, at the age of 67.

Ray loved deer hunting, telling jokes, drag racing with his son, and just having a fun time! He retired from USPS after 34 years and 9 months of service. Ray is also a veteran of the United States Navy.

Ray was preceded in death by his dad, Jesse Monroe Henderson, Jr.; mother, Sarah Juanita Swift; paternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Jesse Henderson, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. George McKenzie; and his first wife, Marsha Norman Henderson.

He is survived by his wife, Dianne Henderson; son, Jarad Henderson (Maryann); sisters, Carlene H. Young (Tim) and Sarah Leigh Crain (Mike); brother, Alan Swift (Patty); uncle, Andy Blackmon (Linda); aunt, Dianna Tyler (Phil); and very special friends, Gary Weems, Louie Sharp, David Smith, and David Cochran.

The public viewing and visitation will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home on Monday, May 12, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A private viewing time for family only will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m., in the funeral home's chapel. Immediately following the service, we will reconvene graveside in Bangor Cemetery for a brief committal service just before interment.
