Raymond Wilbur Greatorex, II, age 83, of Hayden, AL passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024. Ray was born on July 8, 1941, to parents Raymond and Betsy Greatorex. He was a military veteran, who proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1958 to 1974. Ray enjoyed 20 years of retirement after working as a police officer for the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Wilbur Greatorex I and Betsy Ruth Hubbard Greatorex; siblings, Sylvia May Greatorex and Charles Emanuel Greatorex; and son, Timothy Allen Greatorex. He is survived by his children, Beverly (Deric) Lang, Raymond Greatorex III, Jason (Tabitha) Greatorex, Jessica Greatorex, Joseph (Kimberly) Greatorex; and Julie (Tony) Griffith; grandchildren, Chris (Brandie) Lang, Danielle Lang, Courtney (Ben) Schweiger, Aaron (Shaiane) Lang, Ashley Greatorex, Haley (David) Hunt, Jacob Greatorex, Emma McCarley, Aaiden McCarley, William (Abbie) Griffith, Caleb Griffith, Jaidyn Griffith, Payton Griffith and Allen Griffith; several great-grandchildren; and siblings, Wayne Greatorex and Deborah (Gary) Bumpus.

A visitation for Mr. Greatorex will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home on Friday, September 6, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Directly following the visitation Friday morning, all attendees will reconvene at Mt. Zion Cemetery for the 9:30 a.m. commencement of the graveside funeral service, which will be officiated by Mr. Greatorex's son-in-law, Tony Griffith. Interment will immediately follow the conclusion of the committal service.
