Raymond "Ray" Wilbur Greatorex, III, age 51, of Hayden, Alabama passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2024.

Ray was preceded in death by his father Raymond Greatorex, II. He is survived by his mother Patricia James; daughter, Ashley Greatorex; brothers, Jason Greatorex, Joe Greatorex (Kim); and sisters, Beverley Lang, Julie Griffith, Jessica Greatorex.

Ray was the firstborn to Raymond Greatorex II and Patricia Gunter; brother to Beverly Lang, Jason Greatorex, Jessica Greatorex, Joseph Greatorex, and Julie Griffith; and father to his only child, Ashley Greatorex.

His family had him for 51 years, although we wished for more. He remained a jokester and his faith remained steadfast until the very end. We'll faithfully wait until the day we rejoin him in heaven to have a cup of coffee with him and his father, as well as our many loved ones. Until that day comes, I'm sure he is up there looking down on us saying, "Don't worry about me, Dad and I are having a great talk over a fresh pot of coffee! I can't wait to see you all again. Remember, I love you."

A visitation for Ray will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home on Sunday, January 5, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 3:00 p.m. Following the funeral service, attendees will reconvene graveside in Mt. Zion Cemetery for a brief committal service prior to interment.
