Obituary

Richard "Rick" Arnold Nail, Jr., a resident of Kimberly, Alabama, passed away September 19, 2023, at the age of 56.  Rick was born on August 18, 1967, in Birmingham, Alabama to Richard (Dick) Arnold Nail, Sr. and Mary Jewel (Morris) Nail. He is survived by his wife, Karen; their three children: Kelsey Nail, Madison (Madi) Nail and Richard (Ike) Nail (Brooke); his mother, Mary Jewel (Morris) Nail; his mother-in-law, Faye James; his three sisters: Leah Commer, Pam Rosser (Russ) and Vickie McKee (Allen); sister-in-law, Lisa Streit (Brian); Nieces and Nephews: Ben Rosser, Luke Rosser (Krissia), Jeremy McKee (Ali), Daniel McKee (Abby), Sarah Commer  (José Santos), AnnaLeah Commer, Brandon Streit (DJ) and Ashley Streit; and great-nieces and nephews: Elijah & Eleanor (Nora) McKee, Lily & Emma McKee, and Brody & Carter Streit.  He is preceded in death by his father, Richard "Dick" Arnold Nail, Sr. and his father-in-law, Billy James.

Rick was a man for whom family meant the world. Aside from Jesus Christ, his Lord, they were the most important things in his life.  He was so proud of the adults his children had become and they were his joy, and they loved and cared for their daddy. Although he was the baby brother, he cared deeply for and was a close friend to his loving sisters and his "brother", Russ. He was always a doting son to his parents and was unconditionally loved.  He was generous and tender hearted towards those less fortunate.

Rick was a master carpenter and owned his own construction company for many years. He loved the outdoors, especially fly fishing with his best buddies, Bobcat, Dusty, and, of course,  his Pap.

His health problems in the past few years weighed heavily on him, but his hope for better times to come was still there.
Rick's easy smile and contagious chuckle, his companionship, and his love will be greatly missed by his friends and all those who loved him.
