Robert Wayne Crocker, Sr., age 70, of Warrior, AL received his promotion to
Heaven on Sunday, August 13, 2023, and is enjoying being with his Lord and
Savior. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, C. Everett and Helen G.
Crocker; daughter, Rachel Hope Crocker; sisters, Alma L. Burrow, Carol S. Simpson
and Barbara Ann Crocker; and grandparents, Robert Andrew Crocker, Stiley
Campbell Jones, William S. Crocker and Lula L. Crocker. He is survived by his loving
wife, Angela Jeanne Hitt Crocker; children, Robert Wayne Crocker, Jr., Eric
Stephen Crocker, Daniel Kevin Crocker, and Rose Victoria Crocker; and brothers,
Douglas L. Smith (Glenda), Charles E. Crocker (Cynthia), and Thomas W. Crocker
(Ann) plus a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Robert attended Ensley High School and The University of Alabama. A member of
Wylam Baptist Church, he later served as their youngest deacon. Following in the
footsteps of his father, Robert retired from United States Steel after 30 years of
service. He owned Wylam Tax Service for three decades and was always excited
to advise his clients regarding financial decisions that saved them money. His love
of travel throughout the country to various trade shows buying and selling
baseball cards and other collectibles allowed him to make many close lifelong
friends. Leisure time was spent reading westerns, biographies, and the Bible.
Robert wanted to get to know everyone and how he could help them, including
their current prayer needs. He took joy in fellowship with friends and strangers.
"Where do you go to church?" was often the first question he asked. Everyone he
met was encouraged to visit Glen Iris Baptist Church.
Known to err in repeating the same stories and the same questions, he learned to
laugh at himself and enjoyed the irony of it. Robert delighted in asking family and
friends to read the proverb that matched that date. A natural night owl, he talked
of how night shift Bible reading brought him peace and helped him abide in faith
despite any challenges life presented. An unrelenting faith in Jesus Christ defined
his life.
A visitation for Robert will be held at Glen Iris Baptist Church in Birmingham, on
Friday, August 18, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service
beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Shanghi Cemetery in Quinton will follow
immediately after the service at Glen Iris Baptist Church.

*Due to the distance from the church to the cemetery, we will not be traveling in
procession, but will instead reconvene at Shanghi Cemetery immediately
following the funeral service at Glen Iris Baptist Church.
