Rodger Carl Armstrong, age 53, of Warrior, Alabama passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024, after a valiant fight with cancer. Rodger was a devoted husband, father, son, and brother. He loved God and his girls immensely, and if you ever met him, he would tell you that, or you could tell it without asking. Rodger and Lisa were married for 29 years, but were together a total of 33 years, since they started off as high school sweethearts. Rodger wanted more than anything for his life to bring glory to God, and he even witnessed to all of his healthcare workers. He hoped that he and his family's faith in God would be evident during his fight with cancer. He was so incredibly proud of his daughters, Olivia and Ansley. Olivia was about to get married and graduate from Auburn, and Ansley was going to play softball at Purdue. His greatest wish was to watch Olivia graduate and get married, and to see Ansley play softball again. God granted both of those wishes by allowing Ansley to play some in the fall, and Olivia and Tucker got married at his bedside in the hospital the day before his death. Rodger was very proud of the fact that he went back to college to earn his Bachelor's Degree from Huntingdon College after being married and having two small children. He was also working very hard to improve his health, and had completed his first 5k in November 2023, to help prepare for a 1/2 marathon before he was diagnosed with cancer in March 2024. He was an excellent IT Manager for UAB for 24 years. Rodger has been healed and made whole, and is now in the presence of his Jesus in Heaven.

Rodger was preceded in death by his grandparents, Calvin and Helen Armstrong, and T.A. and Evelyn Jenkins. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Armstrong; daughters, Olivia (Tucker) Massey and Ansley Armstrong; parents, Ray and Judy Armstrong; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Delane and Patty Moon; brother, Chris Armstrong; siblings-in-law, Lee & David Karcher, and Mark & Kelly Moon; nieces and nephews, Dani (Chase) Mote, Katelyn Karcher, Samantha Karcher, Collin Moon, Jon Caden Moon, Mollie Moon, Lillian Moon, and Montana Armstrong; great-nephew, Simon Mote; and special friends, Carey, Vicky, Taylor and Haley McAdams.

A visitation and funeral service will be held at Hayden First Baptist Church on Monday, November 25. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Mark Moon will be officiating. Interment to follow at Hayden Cemetery.

* For those planning to attend the committal service at Hayden Cemetery: due to the close proximity of Hayden First Baptist Church to Hayden Cemetery, we will not be traveling in a formal procession. Therefore, we ask that you leave the church promptly after dismissal of the funeral service and begin making your way to the cemetery, rather than following the hearse. We will reconvene graveside for a brief committal service before interment.
