Ronald Jack Abbott, age 82 of Gardendale, Al, passed away on Wednesday August 17, 2022. Ronald was a great father, friend, and companion to many people. He had a heart of gold, and would give the shirt off his back to help others. He never met a stranger. Ronald was a Christian man who attended Bible Holiness Church of God, and loved God to the fullest. He worked hard all his life, and was a retired coal miner. He enjoyed life, and loved watching his birds.  Ronald Abbott was preceded in death by his parents, Vernest Abbott and Bonnie Holt; step-parents, Hazel Abbott and Frank Stalkman; wife, Della Dean Abbott; grandsons, Stephen C. King and newborn Corey Abbott; sons, Kevin and Keith Tawbush; and sister, Willa Jean Mathis. He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Linda J. Abbott; daughters, Sondra Abbott, Tammy Abbott, Kathy (Lonnie) Self, and Kim (Kenneth) Quinn; sons, Norman Wayne Abbott and Timothy Abbott wife Sonya and 2 childern; sister Jerri Layne; grandchildren, Marcella Salgado, Priscella Salgado, Blake Fields, Anna Fields, Timothy Wayne Abbott, Donald Jack Cullins, Christopher Cullins, Aaron Cullins, Drake Abbott, Tiffany (William) Brickerstaff, Stephany (Cody) Floyd, Angela Thomas, Lauren Self, Candace Self, Eric Tawbush, Derrick (Rachel) Tawbush, John Self , and Luke Self (Brittany); as well as 18 great-grandchildren. A visitation for Ronald will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home on Sunday, August 21, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., with funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Bethlehem Cemetery.
