Rose Lynn Murphy Holland was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on January 16, 1954.  She graduated from L. Frazier Banks High School, received her undergraduate degree from the University of Montevallo, and earned her Masters from the University of Alabama Birmingham.  Lynn was a Bethel United Methodist Church member and served faithfully as a nursery teacher, youth worker, adult Sunday school teacher, and music director.  She began her teaching career with hearing-impaired students in Macon, Georgia.  Lynn returned to Alabama to complete 30 years of teaching and consulting in both Jefferson County and Birmingham school systems.  After retiring, she devoted her life to the love and care of her family and her church.  Lynn loved reading, cooking, and relaxing on the front porch, enjoying all aspects of nature, weather, sunshine, winter stillness, and spring rain showers.  She was loving and kind of heart and will be missed by all who received her love.

Lynn was preceded in death by her father, George Trenton Murphy, Sr.; her brother, George Trenton Murphy Jr.; and her niece, Jessica Kupfer.  She is survived by her husband, William O. Holland; her mother, Nelle L. Murphy; her sisters, Edna Waller (Richard) and Jane McCurdy (John); her daughter Melanie Stringer (Richard); granddaughter Lacey Stringer; son, Charlie, and a host of loving cousins, nieces and nephews; and decades of loving children that she loved and taught and numerous coworkers and friends whose lives she touched and blessed.  She will be forever loved and missed.

Services will be held Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Bethel Community Church, with family visitation beginning at 12:00 noon, friends and loved ones visitation at 12:30, and the funeral at 1:00 p.m. with burial at the adjacent cemetery.  The address for the services and burial is 9417 Thermal Road, Warrior, AL, 35126.  Services are in the care of Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home.

During the week before her death, Lynn informed her sisters that instead of Christmas presents for her this year, she wanted donations made to the fundraiser for her much loved great nephew Teddy Reed.  In honor of that request, in place of flowers, a donation can be made to the GoFundMe Campaign at Giving Teddy a chance at an even brighter future.
