Samuel Joseph Hyland a current resident of Warrior was formerly from Iola, Wisconsin.  Sam passed away at the age of 50 on Saturday, December 31, 2022 on his way to the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital from a heart attack.

Sam was born November 17, 1972 in East Point, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his mother Pam Mier and grandparents Thomas and Gailene Hyland.

He is survived by his wife Katie and children Olivia (27), Cali (21), Dakotah (19), Phoenix (14), Emylia (8), and Makailyn (6). As well as, his best friend and Brother-From-Another-Mother Jason (Sam) Walter and his kids James Thomas (18) and Alixandra (16).

Sam served in the US Marine Corps from 1992 to 1996. During his service he served as an infantry team leader for Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marines. He was known and loved for his boisterous personality and 'gung ho' spirit. Sam was a man who, if he only had $40 in his pocket, he'd take a buddy out to dinner or drinks and spend $20 on them. Sam will be sorely missed and frequently remembered by those that served with him.

He then went on to work in the Fiber Optic Communication Construction industry for multiple companies and projects. He loved helping companies build their aerial divisions and train the incoming generations with his knowledge of the field.

Everything he did, he put his heart and soul into and delivered nothing but perfection. This includes being a husband and father. His family was always his first priority in every decision he made.

He loved being able to help other people. It was not a rare thing for him to invite a homeless person out to dinner with us or pay for someone's groceries when he could tell they were struggling. He knew their struggles personally and was so grateful to finally be in a position where he could give back and help ease their struggles.

Sam had big dreams of becoming a pilot, skydiving, scuba diving, and traveling the world to explore the wonders of creation and then settling down on our own little homestead in northern Wisconsin.

Even though we are grieving, we are deeply grateful and praise God for the time he gave us. We can see His love in the way He allowed us to spend Sam's final week together. We will greatly miss his snuggles, goofiness, and amazing cooking skills!

There will be a celebration of life in Wisconsin at a date and time yet to be determined.
