Samuel Claude Romano, age 70, of Birmingham, AL passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2022. He was an avid Alabama football fan, and also enjoyed watching Nascar. He loved to fish, and was a part of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Union 612. Sammy was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Charles and Elizabeth Wynona Romano. He is survived by his siblings, Brenda Thorton, Joey (Dawn) Romano, Rose Romano Purkey and Cynthia Holland; nieces and nephews, Elise (Chaney) Phillips, Gina (John) Ozley, Clayton (Alicia) Romano, Dusty (Patrick) Shirley, Christopher (Sara) Young, Sarah Romano, Blake Mantooth, Justin Mantooth; uncle, Larry (Charlene) Calvert; aunts, Marie Romano and Loretta Dean; as well as a host of great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. A visitation for Mr. Romano will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home on Saturday, October 8, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Following the visitation, a graveside service will be held at Elvester Cemetery, beginning at 11:30 a.m.
