Mrs. Sandra McCullar, age 78, of Hayden, Alabama, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2023.

Sandra was a lifelong resident of the Hayden Community. She was the youngest of four children, and grew up on the farm. She loved animals and the outdoors. Sandra graduated from Hayden High School, class of '63. After school she married Jerry J. McCullar of Double Springs, AL, and together they raised two children, Brenda and Jerry Jr. Their two children went on to give them 5 grandsons, the first being Jacob Lindsey Sullins, who passed away from Lymphoma Cancer at just four years old- a heartbreak that never healed for Sandra. Her grandchildren gave her six great-grandchildren, and this big family became her pride and joy. She also loved her church family at Oak Grove Church. Sandra was hardly ever without a smile on her face.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Irene Satterfield; husband, Jerry J. McCullar; firstborn grandchild, Jacob Lindsey Sullins; and siblings, Bobby Satterfield and Joyce Craig. She is survived by her children, Brenda McAlpine (Randy) and Jerry J. McCullar (Trinia), Jr.,grandchildren, Scotty McAlpine, Craig McAlpine, Colby McAlpine, Brandon Hilyer, and Cameron Robbins; great-grandchildren, Dakota McAlpine, Tamara McAlpine, Keaton Robbins, Jonah Booth, Allie Kate Booth, and Millie Booth; sister, Carolyn Williams; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home Thursday, June 15 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. with graveside service being held at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Double Springs (AL Hwy 195) Friday, June 16 at 11:00 a.m. Bro. Tim Barnett to officiate the graveside service.
