Obituary

Thomas R. Bradley, Sr., affectionately known as "Papa" by those who cherished him, bid farewell to this world and entered those pearly gates on February 23, 2024. With a heavy heart and a chorus of bluegrass melodies, we celebrate the life of a man who was as skilled at catching fish as he was at catching hearts.

Papa was a master of the great outdoors, with a bow or shotgun in one hand and a fishing rod in the other. He could spot a buck from a mile away and reel in a whopper of a fish before you could say "bait." His love for hunting and fishing was surpassed only by his love for his family and friends.

He is survived by his bride, LuLu (LaWanda); his children,Cindy, Kelley, Tom, Jr. (Lisa), Mandy, and Adam; his sister, Jennene (Jimmy); along with too many other wonderful friends and family members to name in one sitting.  He always called his eleven grandchildren, Tyler, Chase, Drew, Heath (Vatican), Zachary, Brad, Noah, Kaleigh, Jude, Cortez and Kaden, and his great-grandchild McKenzie, his blessings and LOL each one was his "favorite."

When he wasn't stalking the wild or casting his line, Papa could often be found strumming his banjo or picking his guitar, filling the air with the sweet sounds of bluegrass music. He could make those strings sing like nobody else, and his music will forever echo in our hearts.

Papa took great pride in tending his garden and his more recent hobby of making wine kept him busy. He shared his bounty of tomatoes, jalapeño peppers, and bottles of wine with family and friends alike. You didn't know how lucky you were until you were gifted a bottle of his LuLu's Blueberry or muscadine wines.

In his 75 years on this earth, Papa touched the lives of all who knew him with his warmth, his humor, and his unwavering love. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, adventure, and toe-tapping tunes that will live on in the memories of those he leaves behind.

Though he may have hung up his hunting gear and set down his fishing rod for the last time, Papa's spirit will continue to roam the great outdoors in Heaven, forever chasing the sunset and dancing to the rhythm of the bluegrass.

Rest easy, Papa. Your laughter will ring through the heavens, and your songs will serenade the angels. Until we meet again, keep on pickin' and grinnin' up there with Jesus. We love you and we'll miss you always.

A celebration of life will take place on Sunday, March 10, 2024 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at SugarCreek Supper Club in Hayden, AL.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Papa's honor to a cancer charity of your choice.
