Thomas "Tom" Sherman, of Warrior, AL and formerly of Rutland and Wenona, IL passed away on May 13, 2021, at the University of Alabama Birmingham Medical Center, with close friends at his side.
Tom was born October 8, 1937, in Evanston, IL, the 4th child born to Milton L. Sherman, Sr. and Imogene Herget Sherman. He married Louella "Lou" Eichelberger on November 17, 1957. Surviving are his girls: Denise "Deni" (and Eric) Knoblauch of Lowpoint, IL, Vicki (and Tim) Wright of Davenport, IA, and Kim (and Kent) Podobinski of Dublin, OH; siblings: Jackie Kennedy of Glendora, CA, Carole Sherman of Prescott Valley, AZ, Tim Sherman of Chicago, IL, Donna Sherman of Roseville, CA, Rob Sherman of Plano, TX, and Rich Sherman of Roseville, CA; 7 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Duane, Milton Jr. (Mike), and Terry. Also surviving are close friends, Monica Thrasher and Ernie Adams, for whom his girls are so grateful for their care and assistance.
Tom graduated from Gridley High School. He was employed in farming and semi-truck driving. Tom described himself as a workaholic, and finally retired in 2014. he was a great friend, and never knew a stranger. He was a very giving person, and loved to laugh. He was very stubborn and fought a tough battle against many health conditions.
Per Tom's wishes, he was cremated, and private services will be held at a later date.
He requested that he be remembered with donations to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
