Matthew Todd Gardner, age 55, of Hayden, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.

Todd was born on February 18, 1969, to Larry and Sandra Gardner. He was a graduate of Erwin High School. After school, Todd went on to begin his career as a sheet metal worker for Local 48 Union, where he stayed for the next 30 years. He loved skeet shooting, hunting and riding motorcycles. More than anything, though, he loved his family. He was a loving father and son. A truly generous and caring man with a one of a kind personality.

A closed casket visitation will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home on Sunday, January 26, 2025. Family will receive guests in the funeral home's chapel from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m., with Bro. Brad Holliman officiating. Upon conclusion of the funeral service, everyone will be dismissed and those who wish to attend the committal service will be asked to begin making their way to Ricetown Cemetery, where we will reconvene graveside. You do not have to follow the hearse to the cemetery, as we will not be traveling in a formal procession led by a police escort. The funeral rites of Mr. Matthew Todd Gardner will end with interment, which will begin immediately after the brief committal service delivered at the graveside.
