Viola F. Mahaffey, age 84, of Warrior, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2020. She was a member of Elvester Baptist Church for over 40 years, and a lifelong resident of Warrior. She loved her kids and grandchildren. Viola loved her cat, Baby, and when she was in the hospital and rehab she always asked how her cat was. She loved her baby dolls, they were her babies. She was a very sweet, tender, kind soul, and she will be missed dearly. Viola was preceded in death by her husband, Arlie E. Mahaffey; mother, Almedia Pharris Chandler; father, Carl Chandler; sisters, Brenda and Elevelen Johnson; and brothers, Marshall, Wesley, Braxton, Dale and Virgil Chandler. She is survived by her sons, Arlie Mahaffey (Mellisa Dake), Wayne Mahaffey, Chris Mahaffey, and William Skinner (Heather); daughter, Lois Hand; granddaughters, Jennifer Blackwell (David), Shirley Robbins (Dusty), Courtney Vibbert (Donald), and Emily Cabill (Colin); grandsons, Joshua Mahaffey, Christopher Mahaffey, Chase Skinner, and Charles Hand (Chuckie); great-granddaughters, McKenzie Blackwell, Deakota Vibbert, Willow Vibbert, and Niki Poe (Drew); great-grandsons, K.C. Hill, Damian Blackwell; great-great-grandsons, Hunter Hand and Liam Poe; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. There will be a visitation for Ms. Mahaffey at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home Friday, March 13, 2020 from 5:30PM to 7:30PM, funeral services will be Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Messmer Goodwin, 2:00PM with burial to follow at Elvester Cemetery. Pallbearers include: Jamie Bradford, Chase Skinner, Riley Tolbert, Ben Mahaffey, Johnny Hayes and Darrel Chamble.
