Virginia Corean Mahaffey, born October 20, 1935 to Paul Mahaffey & Readie Childers Mahaffey, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2020. Virginia and James E. Laxson were married in November 1954. God blessed Virginia and James with three children, Cynthia Laxson, Jennifer Laxson Sanders and James E. Laxson, Jr. "Jimmy". She is also survived by grandchildren, Kimberly, Shauna, Justin, Rachel, Rebekah, and Leah and eight great grandchildren as well as left to mourn her loss are two sisters, Frances McAlpine and Jirean Grant and one brother, Paul Mahaffey. It was her request that she only have a graveside service which will be Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Liberty Minter Cemetery. Her last years were spent at the Hanceville Nursing Home until the Lord called her home.  She retired from the Jefferson County Water & Sewer Board. Her last years were hard on her. One of her last wishes were to have Rev. Billy Patterson do a graveside service for her and she has reached a land where she will never grow old.  She was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church in Roebuck, Alabama.
