Mr. Ward B. Boyd, age 81, of Empire, Alabama, passed to his eternal life January 17, 2021. He was a long-time resident of the Empire community. Ward retired from Drummond Coal Company after thirty years of service at Cedrum Mine. He was a member of Arkadelphia United Methodist Church. He was a simple, humble, and kind person, a man who was devoted to his family, one who never wanted attention drawn to himself. Ward was a hard-working, loving father, grandfather, and good neighbor. He will be missed by his family and friends. Ward Boyd is preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Boyd; parents, Burna and Alma Boyd. He is survived by his son, Michael Boyd (Amy); grandson, Anthony Boyd (Emily); granddaughter, Samantha Boyd; a precious great-grandbaby that is presently due; other beloved family members. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Friday, January 21, 2022, at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held in the chapel at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be at Arkadelphia Cemetery.
