Obituary

Wilburn "Bubba" Donald Glover passed away on March 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

He worked as an engineer with Norfolk Southern Railway and was a proud member of the United States Army. He was also a longtime member of Mt. High Baptist Church, where his faith and community were very important to him.

He was a devoted husband for 46 years to his beloved wife, Anita S. Glover (married November 16, 1979). He was a devoted father for 42 years as well as a loving father-in-law and proud PawPaw. His family was the center of his life, and he will be remembered for his love, dedication, selflessness and the steady presence he provided to those around him.

The family would like to express special thanks to Alabama Oncology Group, Dr. Benjamin S. Jones, Dr. William Ennis, Grandview Medical Center, and the physicians and staff, ProHealth Home Health & Hospice Care for their excellent care and compassion.

Bubba will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilburn Bailey Glover and Mable Valentine Marty Glover.

He is survived by his wife, Anita S. Glover; son, Matthew Glover (Meagan); granddaughter, Jensen Glover; sisters, Kaye Kelley, Beverly Martin (Howard), Donna Maples (Gary) and Vicki Brown; sister-in-law, Patsy Medlock (Joe); brother-in-law, Dale Sandlin (Debbie); and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A visitation, viewing and funeral service will take place before cremation. The visitation and viewing will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 1, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and the funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. At a later date, following cremation, a graveside service will be held at Sulphur Springs Cemetery, where Wilburn's ashes will be interred.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation at https://netrf.org/ However, if you do choose to order a floral arrangement for Wednesday, April 1, keep in mind that cremation will take place after this funeral service, and any floral arrangements or live plants sent to the funeral home will be traveling home with the family afterward, rather than being placed on a grave in the cemetery. It is best to order small arrangements such as bouquets, or live potted plants that can be easily transported.
