Willard Eric "Ricky" Cherry of Pinson, Ala. passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2015, at the age of 62. Ricky was such a caring man, and to know him truly was to love him. He had a beautiful spirit, and he absolutely loved his family, his animals, and the Lord.

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose." Roman 8:28

Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Inez Cherry; brothers, Greg and Gary (Judy) Cherry; sister, Judy Cherry Crawford; niece, Sarah Cherry; and nephew, Jeff Cherry. He is survived by his partner, David Skeesick; daughter, Carlee Skeesick; grandson, Amir Skeesick; sister-in-law, Sheila Cherry; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.

The viewing and visitation for Ricky will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home on Monday, May 19, 2025. The family will begin receiving guests at 11:00 a.m. for the public viewing, and the visitation will continue until time for the funeral service to begin, at noon. Immediately following the funeral service in the funeral home's chapel, we will reconvene graveside in Sharon Baptist Cemetery for a brief committal service, which will take place just before interment. We ask that everyone travel of their own accord to the cemetery, rather than follow the hearse.
