William Odell Ashe went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 20, 2026. Odell served in the Army in his early twenties as a paratrooper for 4 years. He married the love of his life, Karen, on June 15, 1968, to whom he stayed faithfully with for 58 years. He was a devoted father to their four children and never missed an opportunity to cheer them on, proudly attending their sports games and extracurricular activities throughout their lives. After serving his country, Odell got saved and attended Pensacola Bible Institute from 1977-1980. Once graduated, he was called to travel to spread God's word from place to place, settling in Birmingham, AL where he became a long time member of Gloryland Baptist Church. He had a love for people who were down and out and opened a small church ministry in "The Hood", where he ministered to the homeless by preaching and teaching them salvation. He enjoyed helping people any way he could and had a servant's heart. Odell was also an avid Alabama football fan. "Roll Tide Roll!"

Odell was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Ashe; mother, Jewel Francis; and daughter, Amy Ashe. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Ashe; his children, Bethany Ashe, Christi Gast (Aaron), David Ashe, and Jeremiah Ashe; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of other extended family and friends. A visitation will take place at Gloryland Baptist Church, on Friday, September 25, 2026 from 9:30 a.m.- 10:30 a.m. with a service to follow. Burial will take place in Valhalla Cemetery with military honors at the graveside.
