William Mciver
Harris, Jr.
Aug 9, 1942 — Apr 1, 2021
Warrior
William "Bill" McIver Harris II, age 78, of Warrior, AL, joined hands with Jesus in Heaven on Thursday, April 1, 2021. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home on Monday, April 5.
Bill was born August 9, 1942, in Birmingham, Alabama, to William McIver Harris Sr. and Verna Mae Smith Harris. A devoted Fire Chief of Midfield and former thirty-eight-year member of the United States Air Force, Mr. Harris is survived by his loving and devoted wife of twenty years, Patricia Harris. He is preceded in death by his wife Nancy Harris of more than thirty years. He raised three children, Kenneth Leon Harris (wife, Sonya), William McIver "Mac" Harris, and Steven Aleck Harris (wife, Emily). He also adored James DeWitt (wife, Naomi) and Jeffrey DeWitt (wife, Toni). His grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him happiness throughout the years: Courtney Pridmore (husband, Brandon), Selina Quintero (husband, Fabian), Sarah Harris (fiance, Zane Rylant), Raven DeWitt, the late Swan DeWitt, as well as 4 great-grandchildren whom all lovingly referred to him as their Paw Paw. He was loved by his brother Fontaine Harris and sister Marguerite Soper (husband, Tony), and willing to help the less fortunate or a friend in need. He was in constant thought and prayer for others and how he can help to improve their lives as many others were supportive of him in his time of need. He loved running, farming, basketball, finding treasures in foreseen places, anything and everything Auburn, and being a mentor to the youth in his life.
A visitation for Mr. Harris will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home on Monday, April 5, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., with funeral service beginning at 4:00 p.m. Bro. Jacob Elliott to officiate. Interment to follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
