It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of William Louis Jackson, a beloved and cherished individual who departed this world on Saturday, August 12, 2023. Surrounded by his loving family, he peacefully embraced the final chapter of his well-lived life. Born on May 1, 1940, to Wallace and Mildred Jackson, Louis, affectionately known as "Little Red," acquired his nickname due to his vibrant red hair, which became a defining feature throughout his life.
Growing up in Corner, Alabama where he enjoyed playing basketball and hunting. He enthusiastically participated in class reunions and Corner Alumni banquets. After completing his education, Louis embarked on a fulfilling career as a machinist at U.S. Steel, where he served as an exemplary role model for his children and grandchildren, instilling in them the values of hard work and dedication.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 11:30
am at New Bethel Baptist Church, and will be officiated by Reverend
Jeremy Rollo and Reverend Gary Creel. Visitation will be from 10:00
am to 11:30 am, followed by the burial ceremony at New Bethel
Baptist Church. Louis is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Joyce
Jackson, two sons, Mark Jackson (Susan) and Ashley Jackson (Amy
Nicole), as well as eight adoring grandchildren (Caleb, Abby, Matthew,
Logan, Rachel, Sydney, Jake, and Sarah).
